Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy

Massage therapists soothe and relax their clients. Many clients come in with pain and need more than relaxation, they need relief! This presentation will explain how trigger points form and how they create pain. You will be introduced to the concept of referred pain and learn how to find where the pain originates from. Gain an understanding of treatment techniques that will be presented and the need to help the client correct perpetuating factors such as ergonomics, nutrition, sleep problems and posture issues will be discussed.

Erika Waly Bourne

Erika is a registered nurse and a board certified myofascial trigger point therapist. She has been in practice for 23 years and specializes in treating people with myofascial pain using both manual trigger point therapy and trigger point dry needling techniques. Erika currently serves as the president of the National Association of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists in the US.
