Angie Patrick is the Director of Business Development and Corporate Sales for Massage Warehouse. As one of the last remaining legacy employees of the original Massage Warehouse, Angie has worked in every field of massage product distribution, product management, product development, in and outbound sales, marketing, catalog production and more. Her experience with the world’s largest massage product retailer provides her a uniquely qualified view of current market trends, fads, newly emerging and mainstay products in the massage industry. Angie also is a regular columnist for the massage industry trade journal MASSAGE TODAY, and is also the facilitator of the fundraiser for Massage Therapy Research, SANCTUARY.
Laura Allen is a licensed massage therapist and the Massage Division Director of Soothing Touch, a family-owned massage and skin care product company located in Santa Fe, NM. Allen is the author of Nina McIntosh's The Educated Heart and four other textbooks published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, and has a regular Ethics column, The Heart of Bodywork, that appears in Massage & Bodywork Magazine. She has been an Approved Provider of Continuing Education for 17 years.
Melanie Left the high-tech corporate oil and gas world behind, and became a registered massage therapist more than 20 years ago. Melanie loves creating and facilitating women’s retreats, wellness lunch and learns and a variety of business workshops that support massage therapists to experience professional and personal success. Melanie has presented throughout Canada and at the Upledger Institute Foundation's International Research conference in the United States. Melanie is a co-founder of the World Massage Conference and volunteers her time in her profession in various organizations and helps to raise service dogs for those in need.
Lisa Curran Parenteau
Lisa Curran Parenteau, BA, LMT, is a specialist in marketing and practice development. She serves as marketing consultant for the Center for Compassionate Touch LLC and contributes to curriculum and program development. Lisa also serves the Massage Therapy Foundation as a member of the Community Service Review Committee and the newly formed Marketing Work Group. Prior to becoming a massage therapist she directed sales and marketing in the telecommunications industry. Lisa is a certified Compassionate Touch practitioner and enjoys volunteering for hospice near her home on Cape Cod.
Cherie Sohnen-Moe is an author, business coach and international workshop leader. She has been a successful business owner since 1978. Before shifting her focus to education and coaching, she was in private practice for many years as a massage and holistic health practitioner. She has also served as a faculty member at a massage school, an acupuncture college, and a college of natural health. Cherie is the author of Business Mastery, Present Yourself Powerfully, and The Art of Teaching. She is the co-author of The Ethics of Touch, and has written more than 100 articles that have been published in over 15 national and international magazines.
Ruth Werner is a retired massage therapist, writer, and educator with a passionate interest in massage research and the role of bodywork for people who struggle with health issues. Her groundbreaking textbook, A Massage Therapist’s Guide to Pathology was first published in 1998. She writes for Massage and Bodywork magazine and teaches across the USA. She has served on committees for the Utah Department of Public Licensing, the AMTA, NCBTMB, and the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. In 2005 she was selected for the AMTA Teacher of the Year Award.
Jenn Sommermann is current owner of Massage By Land & Sea, both business teacher and chair at Swedish Institute in Manhattan, and former owner of a successful wellness clinic in Boston. Jenn has successfully coached hundreds of massage therapists and allied healthcare providers in all aspects of their business.
