Fully Exposed Ethical Dilemmas

In this practical presentation on the subject of ethics and massage, we’ll look at the stories of four massage therapists who have found themselves in situations where they’ve been faced with unsettling dilemmas. What would you do if you found yourself in their shoes? In the battle of you against yourself, will you make the right ethical decision?

Adam Parrot
Nathan Nordstrom graduated from East West College of healing arts in 2001. Nathan took on massage therapy as a primary career at the age of 24. After graduating, he worked in a retreat spa in Wyoming to learn the spa industry and eventually moved Back to Oregon where he gained experience in medical offices, and owned a day spa. He served as President of the Oregon Chapter of the AMTA, serving as an examiner for the Oregon Board of Massage Therapy, and served on national board of the AMTA from 2006-2008. He has assisted on committees for both AMTA and NCBTMB. Adam Parrott has been a massage therapist since 2007. Before enrolling in massage school, Adam was a psychology major at Portland State University studying criminal psychology. In 2006, while attending massage therapy school, he met Nathan Nordstrom who, at the time, was an instructor at Ashmead College. Nathan became a mentor for Adam and they have continued to work together and collaborate ever since. Adam started his own private practice in Portland Oregon in 2007 and focuses on educating the public on the long term benefits of massage therapy treatment. Nathan and Adam as a team: Over the past few years, Nathan and Adam have become aware of the lack of practical ethics within the massage therapy field. Together, they co-developed an ethics workshop titled “I’ve Been Touched : Fully Exposed Ethical Dilemmas” which has been very well received wherever they present it. In the course, Nathan and Adam use a light-hearted approach which engages the students. Many practical scenarios are presented to the class, so the students leave with a new understanding of how ethics affect their everyday life.
