An Insider's Look at the Secret World of Fascia
Join renowned Italian researchers Antonio and Carla Stecco for an engaging exploration into the human body as they reveal newly found secrets to the inner workings of fascia. Based on the collection of data from more than 100 dissections of fresh cadavers, the Stecco’s will illustrate the relationship of fascia to muscles, vessels and nerves. Learn about the possible role of fascia in proprioception. You’ll also find out about its role in chronic pain syndromes and discover the truth about the effectiveness of alternative therapies as a treatment option.
Antonio Stecco is a graduate in Medicine and Surgery. He currently specializes in Physics Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Padua (Italy). His main area of interest is in scientific and clinical studies encompassing: anatomy of the fascia corporis via dissections and histological studies, including immunohistochemical and molecular biology; the study and clinical application of hyaluronic acid; and myofascial syndrome. Since 2008 he has served on the Scientific Committee of the Fascial Manipulation Association, which brings together researchers interested in studying diseases of the fascia and myofascial origin. Antonio is the author of more then 12 articles published in international journals and co-author of 3 books.
Carla Stecco MD, Orthopedist, is currently the Assistant Professor of Human Anatomy and Movement Sciences at the University of Padova, Italy. She is a founding member of the Fascial Manipulation Association, a member of the Italian Society of Anatomy and Histology and the Association Française des Morphologistes. Her scientific activity is devoted to the study of the anatomy of human fascia from a macroscopical, histological and physiopathological point of view. She has personally performed over 100 dissections of fresh cadavers for research. Since the year 2000 she has organized and personally holds theoretical-practical courses about the Fascial Manipulation Technique both in Italy and in other countries. Carla is the author of more than 40 extensive papers about the fascial anatomy, all indexed in PubMed. She is also the author of one book (Manipolazione fasciale, Piccin, 2007), translated into English in 2009 (Fascial Manipulation, practical part, Piccin, 2009) and has co-authored about the fascial anatomy and the Fascial Manipulation Technique.
