An Inspired Career

An important part of ABMP’s mission is to support massage therapists in the development of fulfilling careers—whatever form those careers might take. Some therapists strike out on their own and work as independent practitioners, others work as employees, and many have blended occupations. In this panel discussion, a trio of Massage & Bodywork magazine’s favorite business experts focus on the fun, creative, and self-empowering aspects of maintaining an inspired massage career.
Eric Brown

Eric Brown, known by many as the Grand Massage Poobah, has trained thousands of therapists at massage therapy colleges and through conference workshops. This noted massage business expert and founder of BodyworkBiz writes for massage journals internationally and is the author of the number one bestseller 60 Clients in 60 Days. He is a co-founder of World Massage Conference and Massage Therapy Radio. He has pioneered chair massage in Canada and has worked for a multitude of companies including IBM, Dell, Kelloggs, Levi Strauss, Amex, major hospitals, banks, law firms and financial institutions.


Irene Diamond

A therapist for 25 years, creator of &, founder of Active Myofascial Therapy: The Diamond Method, and Massage Hall of Fame inductee, Irene Diamond is the secret weapon behind many of the world’s most successful therapists. Through strategic insight and knowledge she takes thera-preneurs’ businesses from good to great. Irene Diamond is a well-loved massage business coach and mentor, and the "secret weapon" behind many of the world's most successful wellness businesses. As the founder of San Francisco, California's first wellness center she knows what it takes to run a thriving massage business. Irene is also the creator of Active Myofascial Therapy: The Diamond Method, one of the most fast-acting hands-on and movement based rehabilitation therapies for myofascial dysfunction and pain. Laura Allen
Laura Allen is a licensed massage therapist and the Massage Division Director of Soothing Touch, a family-owned massage and skin care product company located in Santa Fe, NM. Allen is the author of Nina McIntosh's The Educated Heart and four other textbooks published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, and has a regular Ethics column, The Heart of Bodywork, that appears in Massage & Bodywork Magazine. She has been an Approved Provider of Continuing Education for 17 years.
